Iran’s Foreign Ministry Spokesman Hossein Jaberi Ansari on Monday called for concerted global efforts to counter terrorism and extremism.
The spokesman added the two terrorist attacks once again demonstrated that extremists and terrorists are targeting all manifestations of ordinary life in human societies. “No place and no echelon of societies is spared their (the terrorists’) danger.”
Jaberi Ansari also pointed out that recurrence of terrorist attacks in varios parts of the world puts further emphasis on the necessity for an immediate, comprehensive, and international confrontation with the ominous phenomenon of terrorism.
The Iranian official also offered Tehran’s condolences to the Pakistani and Iraqi nations and governments and the bereaved families of the victims.
This comes as death toll form Sunday massive terrorist bomb attack outside a park in the eastern Pakistan has city of Lahore has risen to at least 72 people, including 29 children.
More than 315, mostly women and children, people were also injured in the explosion
Salman Rafiq, a health adviser to the chief minister of Punjab province said, the death toll is still expected to rise as some of the injured are in critical condition. "Many [of the injured] are in operation theaters now being treated and we fear that the death toll may climb considerably."
Several Pakistani officials confirmed that most of the injured and dead were women and children.
Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, a faction of the terrorist group Taliban, has claimed responsibility for the deadly bomb attack. The group has carried out several attacks across northwestern Pakistan during the last few months.
“We want to send this message to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif that we have entered Lahore. He can do what he wants but he won't be able to stop us. Our suicide bombers will continue these attacks.” Ahsanullah Ahsan, a spokesperson for the terrorist group said.
Following the massive bomb attack, Premier Sharif visited some of the injured in Lahore hospitals and has met security officials to plan a response.
Lahore and several cities across Punjab province has traditionally experienced more calm compared to the rest of the country, which has been beleaguered by militancy waged by Pakistani Taliban and some other militant groups
The regional administration has announced three days of mourning.
On Friday, a bomb blast carried out by the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group at a soccer stadium near the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, claimed the lives of 41 people and injured 105 others.
It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic frequently though his speeches and messages used to denounce the all types of violence and terrorism. He also condemned militant groups which were targeting Muslim unity by spreading sectarian violence and committing acts of violence.
Imam Khomeini always used to emphasize unity among the Muslim community and solidarity with followers of all divine religions.
