Sayyid Hassan Khomeini issued a statement, giving his commiserations for the sad demise of Hajj Sheikh Mohammad Hussein Shari’ati. The text of the statement is as follows:

We belong to Him and to Him we will return
The passing of Imam Khomeini’s friend, Hajj Sheikh Mohammad Hussein Shari’ati, who accompanied the Imam in his days of isolation and loneliness, is no doubt a difficult and painful tragedy for his friends and family. This warrior endured many years of struggle and exile, and left us with numerous memories. The friendship of the demised with Imam Khomeini, and his loyalty to the Imam and his family will always be remembered. I give my condolences to the family and children of this soldier of the Imam of our time, and the companion of Imam Khomeini. I pray to God that his status is elevated.
