Quds Day raises awareness about Palestinians’ plight

Iran’s former ambassador to Lebanon says that Imam Khomeini the founder of the Islamic Republic diagnosed the real reasons behind the sufferings of the oppressed people of Palestine and called for the Muslim Ummahto collectively confront the occupied Zionist regime.

Mohammad Ali Sobhani, former Iranian ambassador to Lebanon and Jordan wrote in an article that unfortunately this tragic story of Palestine unfolded six decades ago and continued through our contemporary times.

The tragic event started in 1940s when the occupied regime seized this holy land and started building on the foundations of destructive homes and villages of Palestinians. The unprecedented level of violence forced the Muslim nation out of their homes and the aggressive regime seized several holy sites, Sobhani added.

The former ambassador said the racist Zionists occupied Palestinian territories and kept advancing their occupational and expansionist agenda across the region throughout the coming years and decades.

The issue of Palestine has still remained as the most unresolved sensitive geo-political issue for the Arab and Muslim world.

The intellectual went onto say that, these old wounds are reopened when innocent children and women are massacred as a result of the occupier Zionist regime’s aerial bombardments or non-stop Israeli ground operations across Palestinian camps.

The strategically important region of Middle East has been subject to great political changes as several governments have emerged while others disappeared over the past few years. It is also an unfortunate situation that the ongoing internal differences and conflicts in Islamic counties such as Egypt and Syria will weaken the Islamic societies and benefit the Zionists in the sweltering region, Sobhani, an expert on Middle East affairs at the international department of the Institute for Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini’s Works said.

Many steps were taken by the masses and groups were mobilized to confront the Zionist regime in the past. However, most of these efforts did not produce desired results, the intellectual said.

He noted that the victory of Islamic Revolution under the leadership of Imam Khomeini emerged in 1979 changed the destiny of the Palestinian issue. The Islamic Revolution, which was purely based on human and Islamic values, took clear stance against the Zionists and imperialist powers. Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic raised awareness among the Muslim nations and diagnosed the reasons behind the unresolved issue of Palestine.

The great religious and spiritual leader, Imam Khomeini, guided the Muslims that this geo-political and geo-strategic issue will remain unresolved until the Muslim societies are divided. The great Imam called for the one- billion Muslims to get unite against aggressions of Zionism and colonial powers and throw their weight behind the oppressed nation of Palestine.

The intellectual concluded that great Imam had taken very wise decision by declaring the last Friday from the holy month of Ramadan as the International Quds Day. The Muslims and oppressed people across the world stage mass rallies to promote the Palestinian cause and issue. These rallies have left great impact, raised awareness about the sufferings of Palestinian people, and made the nations aware of the atrocities being committed by the Zionist regime and its backers.
