Imam Khomeini's advice to believers for spiritual transformation on the night of Qadr.

Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, recommended faithful and believers to undertake serious efforts for a spiritual transformation during Laylat al Qadr.

On the 19th of Ramadan 40 AH (27 January AD 661), Imam Ali (peace be upon him) was struck on the head with a poison coated sword during the morning prayers in the Great Mosque of Kufa, in today's Iraq, and passed away two days later.

Every year, on the 21st day of the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, mourners gather in mosques and religious centers across Iran to attend ceremonies commemorating the first Shia Imam's martyrdom.

Imam khomeini who had well command over several discipline of knowledge recommended faithful and believers to undertake serious efforts for a spiritual transformation during laylat al qadr.

The sacred night is described in the holy scripture of Quran as, "better than a thousand months. God the merciful mentions virtues of this night and the Holy Scripture in another verse as following: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious Most Merciful. Verily, We have sent it (this Quran) down in the night of Al Qadr".

The holy night is also known as night of destiny or night of power during the blessed month of Ramadan.

Some traditions narrated by the holy prophet of Islam and his infallible successor says al Qadr occurs in the last ten nights of the holy month of Ramadan during an odd night. The traditions also indicate that individual and collective destinies are decreed during this holy period.

Muslims hold night long vigils on Qadr Nights, reciting the holy Qu’ran and praying until dawn.

It is also thought to be the night when the blessings and mercy of God are abundant, sins are forgiven, supplications are accepted, and God decides the fate of each individual for the coming year.
