Chief Rabbai denounces Israeli killing of Gaza civilians, women and children

Yunus Hamami Lalezar, chief rabbi of the Jewish community of Iran has stressed that the killing of defenseless people, including women, children and the elderly, is absolutely wrong from the viewpoint of Judaism.

The chief Rabbi made remarks at a summit held under title the "review of Palestinian developments" and to discuss the ongoing Israel aggression on the besieged Gaza Strip.  The gathering was held with the presence of Seyyed Hassan Khomeini and organized with efforts of the institute for compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini’s works.

According to the point of view of Judaism, the defenseless people, including women, children and should be protected, he stressed

Lalezar went on to say that there has never been systematic anti-Semitism in Islamic countries.

He pointed out that since the formation of the Zionist Party, with Zionism's abuse of Jewish ideals, Jewish beliefs have suffered the most.

From the very beginning of the formation of Zionism in the late 19th century, the first critics and opponents of Zionism were the Jews themselves.

The Zionist regime of Israel is trying to show the recent aggression against the besieged Gaza Strip as a war between religious beliefs and, in fact, a war between Judaism and Islam. This approach is against Jewish beliefs, he said.

Elsewhere, the chief Rabbai stated that throughout history Jewish people lived peacefully and harmoniously with their compatriots in all countries of the world.

Our religious belief is that God promised to Abraham and later to Isaac and Jacob that the Jews will gather in the promised land when the savior appears.

The Jews have never tried to take possession of it by force since their expulsion from that land 2,000 years ago.

The religious belief of Jewish people is that this will happen spontaneously with the appearance of the savior.

The chief rabbi stated: The Zionists used every inhuman means to form a regime and go to that land. This regime does not represent the Jewish people of the world and the Jews have many objections to this Zionist approach.

Lalezar reiterated that there has never been systematic anti-Semitism in Islamic countries.

The rabbai highlight that Iran has been a very good example and Jews settled in the western province of Iran since 2700 years ago when the Assyrian king attacked the Holy Land.

Since then, the peaceful life of Jews has existed alongside other Iranian religions.

He clarified that there have been ups and downs, but if you look, Jewish neighborhoods are located next to religious houses or comprehensive mosques to prevent the actions of extremists.

The chief Rabbai concluded by saying that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic, considered Judaism to be a divine religion and distinguished between Judaism and Zionism.  He further emphasized that the leadership also adopted the same policy.

From the point of view of Judaism, killing defenseless people including women, children and the elderly is absolutely wrong and there was no justification for it. And they should be safe. The blind killing being carried out by the Zionist regime, including the attack on hospitals, is not acceptable and the Jews have condemned and denounced these actions in the strongest term.
