What comes following is a part of an interview with Dr. Hamid Ansari about activities of institute for compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini’s works
The sworn enemies of the revolution had earlier declared that the Islamic Republic would “not last until its 40th birthday” and they would be present in Tehran before the celebrations.
We have witnessed that with the grace of God the Almighty, due to the glory of the great Iranian nation and wise directives of the country’s high-ranking officials, not only this ill wish of opponents was not fulfilled, but our country emerged more powerful and more productive on the world stage.
Contrary to claims ill-wishes of enemies, the revolution has now entered in its fifth decade and Iran continues to play very decisive role in the regional and the world major issues.
In such circumstances, it is vital to revisit the ideals of the Islamic Revolution and the Iranian nation which were originated from Imam Khomeini’s dynamic and mindful thought.
In the Today World, the web and social networking websites are playing very crucial role and are gradually replacing previous classic concept of media.
With the free flow of information, the first word published would shape public opinion and give direction to the audience. For this reason, and the institute for the compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini's works has become more active in this area. Currently, Imam Khomeini Portal, Jamaran website and our cultural sections are enough active and have displayed a great deal of activities in this regard.
Organizing and mechanizing the documents of the Imam's office and essential documents related to Imam Khomeini’s social and political life has been another task of great significance done by the institute. About five million pages of the document were organized mechanically both in software and hardware forms and platforms and have been made available.
The establishment of a museum and central library at Imam Khomeini's holy mausoleum is under way and towards its completion. This year, we will witness the opening of the first phase of the Imam and Islamic Revolution Museumat the holy shrine.
The research of Imam thought and the collection and maintenance of all of his works and documents, their translation and publication in different languages and for different audiences from childhood to youth and adolescents, and adults has been the mission and major objectives of the institute.
Expressing and promoting the life and thought of Imam by using the language of art and multimedia software, obtaining and recording and publishing memoirs, publishing the narrations of Imam's lessons, teaching Imam's thoughts at universities, holding national and international ceremonies in honor of Imam, protection of places associated to the Imam, revival of his heritage and publication of Imam Khomeini works are among the various activities of the institution
Another very important responsibility of the institute is to monitor and supervise what is known produced in the form of a document, biography, article, and memoir, film, and so on.
Major projects have been carried out in recent years, including the collection, correction, research dissemination and compilations of Imam’s works, many of which have been translated into other languages, and are published in high numbers and volumes.
In addition to collecting thousands of documents from revolution struggle era, personal notes and letters of Imam, , important documents of the revolution history, and thousands of letters from the political and spiritual figures of the country and abroad to Imam and more than one millions of letters from different classes of the people form valuable treasure trove of evolution about the revolution and the leadership of Imam. These all have also been digitized to prevent any possible damage. Parts of these documents will be displayed at museum of Imam Khomeini’s shrine.
One of the most outstanding works that I think is one of the masterpieces of the institute is holding and managing massive million gathering of people which is held annually at the holy shrine in June each year. The great task is done with close coordination of several institutions of the Islamic Republic.
Another task is the establishment of the great Imam and Islamic revolution museum, which is located near Imam’s shrine, and is currently in the final stage of designing and displaying the works of the Imam Khomeini. The site will be centered on the cultural connection between the generations of the revolution.
We are preparing for the completion and publication of the great encyclopedia of Imam as well as its translation into several languages are among programs of near future.
In the project of preserving the sites attributed to Imam Khomeini, their registration as cultural and even the world cultural heritage is part of the institute’s which is being pursued seriously.
In the field of cyberspace, we also have a variety of programs, and so far we have produced and distributed many CDs and writings and digital production of Imam’s Divine Will which has been accompanied by the widespread attraction of young people. The institutes' affiliated centers, such as Urouj publications, the delegations and congresses centers, Imam Khomeini College and Islamic Revolution Research have their own sites. The great project of grand Imam Khomeini website and portal had been completed after many years of endeavor.
At the end of my review, I make a pledge with God the Almighty, the leader of the Islamic Revolution and the public that the relevant authorities and colleagues at the institute will continue utmost efforts to promote and shield dynamic thought and ideals of Imam Khomeini.
