Closing ceremony of Islamic unity summit being held in Tehran

A final closing ceremony for the international unity summit is being held in the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference will wrap up on Monday evening.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani is the keynote speaker at the closing ceremony, which will be hosted by the IRIB Conference Hall in Tehran.

It will begin at 6:30 PM and include unveiling a number of books and a speech by Ayatollah Mohsen Araki, secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST).

The conference began in the Iranian capital on Saturday with representatives of 100 countries in attendance.

It is annually organized by the WFPIST with the aim of promoting unity in the Muslim world.

On Sunday, marking the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), the participants in the conference met with Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei.

Addressing an annual international conference on Islamic unity in Tehran, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said Saturday Muslims have no way but to remain united in order to achieve victory over the US and fight its blatant oppression.

He noted that unity and brotherhood among Islamic countries must be assumed as a duty. The Iranian president, however, pointed out that unity could not be achieved through words, stressing that it rather required collective action.

The 32nd International Islamic Unity Conference began in the Iranian capital under the motto "Quds, axis of unity among Ummah," with over 350 foreign guests from 100 countries in attendance.

The event is held annually on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him) in a bid to lay the ground for stronger solidarity among Muslims and provide appropriate solutions for their problems.
