He made remarks while speaking at the 3rd edition of "Warriors in foreign countries" conference in the Iranian city of Damghan, located in 342 kilometers east of Tehran.
Separately, in an exclusive interview with Reza Abdollahi Fard, a representative of the international department for the Institute for compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini’s works, the Yemeni intellectual said that the oppressed people have today have started to raise their voices against oppressors in all corners of the world due to untiring efforts of the late founder of the Islamic Republic.
He went onto say that Imam Khomeini revived Islam on international level and took serious steps to create unity among Muslim world. The Muslim Ummah stills needs to boost unity with guidance of current Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.
The summit was also attended by Dr. Shoja’ei Far, a successor to the Leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, who has been a devotee pupil of Imam Khomeini.
Imam Khomeini’s dynamic thought had left a lasting spiritual impact on Zakzaky, the IMN leader said.
It has been recalled through a series of memoirs that once Imam gave Zakzaky holy Quran as a gift and advised him to make his nation awake with its divine teachings. The Nigerian cleric did this task of great significance with great responsibility and devotion over the past years.
Nigeria’s crackdown on IMN followers began in December 2015 when the army attacked a religious ceremony in the city of Zaria in the northern Nigeria. Nigerian forces later raided the house of IMN leader Sheikh Zakzaky and arrested him after killing those attempting to protect the prominent Muslim cleric.
It is worthy to mention that Nigerian government forces have lauched a brutal crackdown against Zakzaky’s supporters across Nigeria.
Scores of Zakzaky’s followers were arrested during the brutal raid by security forces on the cleric’s IMN headquarters in December 2015.
During the raid, Nigerian forces killed nearly 300 Zakzaky’s supporters, including three of his sons, and later buried them in mass graves.
Sheikh Zakzaky and his wife, who were shot and injured during the raid, were taken into custody.
A Federal High Court had ordered Zakzaky’s unconditional release in 2016, but the Nigerian government has so far refused to abide by the ruling.
This is while a spokesman for the Islamic movement stated back in March that the government in Abuja was planning to indefinitely hold the cleric and his wife in custody.
