The late founder of the Islamic Republic had directed Iranian authorities to raise the Palestinian issue on all international and diplomatic forums such as the United Nations and spare no efforts to raise awareness’s among the world public in this regard.
International department of the institute for compilation and publication of Imam Khomeini’s works has managed to publish a book titled ‘Palestine from viewpoint of Imam Khomeini which shed light on Imam’s views on the Palestinian issue.
Imam through his speeches exposed the Israeli regime crimes being committed against the Palestinian people and insisted the need to revive and defend their rights.
In order to mobilize the entire world, Imam Khomeini, the leader of contemporary Muslim world, announced the last Friday from holy month of Ramadan as International Quds Day in order to awaken the world public about the issue of great significance.
In late June, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called Palestine the foremost issue of the Islamic world.
The Leader made remarks while addressing Muslim ambassadors, Iranian officials and ordinary people in Tehran Monday during a meeting on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr.
The leader also stressed that Muslims today are obliged to fight Israel with whatever means they possess.
“According to Islamic jurisprudence, when an enemy takes over Muslim lands, Jihad in any possible form becomes everyone's duty," Ayatollah Khamenei said, adding, “Today the fight against the Zionist regime is obligatory and necessary for Muslims. Why do some evade this duty?”
The Leader warned of the "great danger of consigning the Palestinian issue to oblivion."
“Palestine is the number one issue of the Islamic world, but some Islamic countries are acting in such a way as to have the Palestinian case ignored and forgotten."
Meanwhile, on the political fronts in recent days, rival Palestinian factions Hamas and Fatah kicked off three days of unity talks in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, amid high hopes that the negotiations would result in a long-awaited national reconciliation.
Officials from both Palestinian factions praised the meetings as positive.
The Palestinian leadership has been divided between Fatah and Hamas since 2006, when the latter scored a landslide victory in parliamentary elections in the Gaza Strip. Hamas has ever since been running the coastal enclave, while Fatah has been based in the autonomous parts the Israeli-occupied West Bank.
Previous reconciliation attempts by the two sides to form a power-sharing unity government in Gaza and the West Bank have failed.
In September, however, Hamas said it had accepted key reconciliation conditions offered by Abbas and underlined its “desire to achieve national unity.”
According to latest reports, Palestinian resistance movement Hamas confirmed that it has reached a national reconciliation deal with rival party Fatah with the aim of ending a decade-long political rift mainly over the governance of the Gaza Strip.
The Gaza-based resistance movement’s chief Ismail Haniyeh said in a statement on Thursday that “Fatah and Hamas reached an agreement at dawn today upon a generous Egyptian sponsorship,”
Sources said President Mahmoud Abbas of the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority (PA) would visit the coastal enclave in “less than a month,” for the first time since 2007.
Abbas welcomed the deal and called it a “final agreement” to end the division.
“I received a detailed report from the Fatah delegation about what was agreed and I considered it the final agreement to end the division,” he said, adding that he gave orders to Fatah delegates to sign the deal immediately.
The resistance movement also invited the Palestinian unity government formed in 2014 to return to Gaza, dissolving an administrative committee that runs the Israeli-besieged territory to pave the way for fresh national elections.
