Imam Khomeini seriously pursued Islamic-Republic matters from hospital

Imam Khomeini wanted the Islamic Republic to become a role-model for all Muslims and oppressed people of the world.

Imam wanted to see the Islamic-Republic system as successful, functional in such a way that could fulfil needs of people and play key role on international arena in order to defend rights and interests of the entire Muslim world.

For an instance, Imam had recommended the historic referendum to be immediately held after the victory of the Islamic Revolution under his leadership in 1979.

Imam wanted the public and all top officials to promote democracy, rule of law and take serious efforts to solve problems and hurdles facing the public masses.

It has been reported that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic personally pursued review of the constitution and took special interest in establishment of democratic institutions in the country

People within inner circles of Imam Khomeini recall that the founder of the Islamic Revolution was always seriously doing follow-ups regarding matters about the Islamic-Republic.

Imam paid his special attention and wanted the panel of experts to complete their job regarding reviewing the constitution even when he was hospitalized and spending last months of his life in 1989.

Great Architect of Islamic Republic Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Rouhollah Mousavi Khomeini, better known as Imam Khomeini, contributed many years of his life to resistance against the US-backed Pahlavi dynasty, and eventually paved the way for its downfall in the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

In the pre-Revolution era, Imam Khomeini spent more than 15 years in exile for his stiff opposition to the last monarch, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, mostly for his association with Western imperialists.

While in exile more than 15 years, the politico-religious leader, who enjoyed immense public support in the country, continued to guide the uprising against the Pahlavi regime.

He only came back home on February 1, 1979 after the monarch finally gave into angry popular demonstrations and fled the country.  

Imam Khomeini, the leader of all Msulims, oppressed people and freedom-seekers, passed away on June 3, 1989.
