Quranic events planned at Imam Khomeini mausoleum

A series of Quranic programs, including Quran recitation sessions and Quranic exhibitions, are planned to be held at the holy shrine over the upcoming days.

The programs and events are planned during Ten-Days of Dawn celebrations marking the anniversary of the victory of Iran’s Islamic Revolution.

The Quran activists and memorizers will also renew allegiance with aspirations of Imam Khomeini by visiting his tomb, which is located southern suburbs of the Iranian capital, Tehran.

Each year, millions of Iranians across the country observe ten days of celebrations marking the anniversary of the victory of the Islamic revolution.

The founder of the Islamic revolution spent more than 14 years in exile, mostly in the Iraqi holy city of Najaf. Imam Khomeini also spent some time in Turkey and France, before his return to Iran.

The day when Imam Khomeini returned to Tehran marks the start of 10 days of celebrations better known as the 10-Day Dawn festivities, which culminate in nationwide rallies on February 11 this year, the anniversary of the triumph of the Islamic Revolution.

On this day, Imam was welcomed by millions of people who had converged on the capital Tehran from across the country.

His arrival intensified popular protests against the dictatorial Pahlavi regime, leading to its downfall ten days later.

The Islamic revolution put an end to the monarchy of the US-backed Pahlavi regime in the country.

Imam Khomeini established an Islamic-democratic system in Iran which changed balance of power in the interests of Muslim and oppressed nations.
