Constitution, greatest outcome of Islamic Republic

Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic described the drafting of a comprehensive constitution as the greatest outcome of the Islamic-democratic system.

Imam made remarks in a historic speech which was delivered less than a year after the victory of the Islamic Revolution.

Imam invited all people from all walks life and followers of various sects to vote in favor of the constitution which was put to referendum months after the Islamic Revolution’s triumphant.

The leader of contemporary Muslim world stressed that the constitution had been drafted and written by scholars and intellectuals in accordance with Islamic teachings and invited public masses and all members of society to approve it in order to foil the conspiracies of hostile powers.

The constitution, which was written by a group of seminary and university scholars and legal experts had observed the rights of all sects and classes and proved the way for the institutions to perform their functions in a proper manner.

The approval of constitution by vast majority of people provided strong ground for Iran’s progress in all arenas. The revolution under wise leadership of Imam Khomeini also strengthened the statues of developing countries and defended the rights of oppressed nations around the globe.
