Imam Khomeini used Eid to foster Muslim unity

Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic used to divine occasions of Eids to foster harmony and unity among Muslims.

The leader of the contemporary Muslim world used to send congratulatory messages to Muslims and Islamic governments to use the occasion in order to solve the problems and hurdles facing the Muslim world.

Imam in his messages to Muslims used to highlight comprehensive perspectives, including social, spiritual and political aspects of Eids, and reminded them of crimes the Israeli regime was committed against Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, millions of Muslims worldwide have celebrated the Eid al-Adha (the Feast of Sacrifice). Muslims flocked to mosques and open grounds to take part in celebrations marking the auspicious occasion.

In Iran, a mass prayer was held in the capital city of Tehran, with people from various walks of life and high-profile officials in attendance.

Muslims across various parts of the world traditionally celebrate Eid al-Adha with the sacrifice of sheep, cattle, camels and other livestock.

The act commemorates Prophet Ibrahim or Abraham (PBUH)’s submission to divine order to sacrifice his son, Ismail (PBUH).

Just before sacrificing his son, God provided Prophet Abraham with a sheep to sacrifice instead after he successfully passed the divine test.

The event is one of the most significant festivals on the Muslim calendar, which marks the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage. The major rituals of the Hajj are performed during a five-day period from the 8th through the 12th of Dhu al-Hijjah on the Muslim lunar calendar.

The Hajj pilgrimage is a religious ritual, which must be performed at least once by every able-bodied Muslim who can afford it.

The holy pilgrimage is also a demonstration of Muslims’ unity and their submission to Allah.

However, Saudi Arabia has deprived a large number of Muslims from this year’s Hajj.

Muslim scholar say there is no justification for the kingdom’s move to prevent Muslims from performing the religious duty of Hajj.

Saudi rulers of House of Saud have no right to block the access of pilgrims to the places.

Several Muslim leaders has lashed out at Saudi Arabia for mishandling of the Hajj rituals.

Iran has canceled the participation of its pilgrims in this year’s Hajj rituals due to the obstacles created by Saudi Arabia in the way of Iranians seeking to perform the ritual.
