Iran’s president felicitates Muslims on Eid al-Adha

Iranian President Rouhani has expressed hope that Muslims would enjoy the social and spiritual benefits of the Feast of Sacrifice.

 In separate messages, the Iranian president felicitated leaders of Muslim countries on the occasion of Eid al-Adha which marks the culmination of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

President Rouhani expressed hope that Muslims would present to the world the true image of Islam, which is based on justice and mercy, through harmony and cooperation. 

He also hoped that Muslims would reinforce their unity and cordial bonds. 

Elsewhere in his message, the president expected the Muslims to foil all efforts aimed at sowing discord among them.

Muslims around the globe celebrate Eid al-Adha, one of the most important religious feasts.

Millions of Muslims attend the day’s prayers. In Iran, people from various echelon go to mosques to participate in the day's special prayers.

Muslim traditionally celebrate the event with the sacrifice of animals like sheep, goats, ram and cattle.

The act commemorates Prophet Abraham’s submission to divine order. 

It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini, the late founder of the Islamic Republic used to issue congratulatory Muslims on Eid occasions, inviting them towards harmony and unity.
