Indian official pays tribute to Imam Khomeini

A senior Indian minister paid tribute to the late Imam Khomeini by paying visit to the holy mausoleum of the late founder of the Islamic Republic.

 India’s Minister of State for External Affairs Mubashir Javed Akbar and his accompanying delegation on Sunday morning visited Imam Khomeini’s holy shrine, which is located on the suburbs of the Iranian capital, Tehran.

The holy site is visited by thousands of pilgrims, tourists, intellectual and officials from across Iran and various parts of the world.

Akbar who is in Tehran, earlier met with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to discuss bilateral ties and exchanged views on Iran-India regional developments perspective.

The Indian official also held a meeting with Ali Akbar Velayati, a senior advisor to Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei.

Velayati said Iran and India can play a prominent role in the fight against terrorism and extremism in the region.

Akbar, for his part, said Takfiri extremism and terrorism and are dangerous not only for the region but the entire world and urged a serious campaign against them.

It is worthy to mention that emergence and victory of the Islamic Revolution under wise leadership of Imam Khomeini changed the balance of power in the interest of the developing and oppressed nations
