The grandson of Imam Khomeini says Imam Khomeini attached a great significance to participation of people in all arenas of life.
Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini wrote in a recent post wrote that the public vote and opinion had been great criterion in all ups and downs from viewpoint Imam Khomeini.
Seyyed Hassan Khomeini has also posted one of his childhood picture which was taken along with Imam in 1979.
He went onto say that the 12th of the Iranian month of Farvardin, corresponding to 31st of March, reminds us of great history when Iran held referendum under the wise leadership of Imam Khomeini, and the Iranian overwhelmingly voted to establish the Islamic-democratic system.
The grandson of Imam Khomeini said that the founder of the Islamic Republic had managed to organize referendum at a sensitive juncture of history, when many didn’t see need for the popular vote because of a massive public opinion in favor of Imam.
The internationally- reputed intellectual noted that Imam deemed the popular vote and public participation as a vital criterion in all conditions and circumstances.
He pointed out that this criteria had been remained an effectual resolve in past and would be applied for the future as well.
Following the emergence of the Islamic Revolution in 1979, Imam Khomeini organized to hold referendum to seek people opinion about establishing the Islamic-democratic system in Iran.
An overwhelming majority of people voted in favor of the Islamic-Republic system.
Iran has held several elections and votes over the past nearly four decades.
