Imam Khomeini’s holy mausoleum is set to hold a ceremony marking the bringing of new Persian year.

The ceremony will be held on Sunday morning at Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum which is located on the suburbs of the Iranian capital, Tehran.

According to Hojjat al-Islam Javadi Rad, the gathering would be inaugurated with a speech by Ayatollah Seyyed Hassan Khomeini, the grandson of Imam Khomeini, and a supplication for the beginning of new year would also mark a closing ceremony.

A large number of believers including Academic figures, university and seminary intellectuals and people from various walks of life are expected to attend the event.

Elsewhere in his remarks, Javadi Rad pointed out that the variety of programs and events would also be organized for tourists and pilgrims visiting the holy site.

Imam Khomeini’s mausoleum has been turned into a center for social, cultural, religious and social programs and activities over the past years. The site is visited by thousands of pilgrims from across the various parts of the globe.

Experts believe that Imam Khomeini had sought to revive the spiritual perspectives and values and recommended to promote divine values during the Nowrouz and advised to help the needy people.  

Nowrouz marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the Iranian solar calendar.

Iranian people recite Quran and supplications, and visit families and help needy people during the beginning of spring.
