Imam Khomeini thanked people of Neauphle-le-Chateaubefore making a historic return to Iran. Imam had spent about four months in the French district, located on the outskirts of the French capital, Paris. Imam sought apologies for any inconvenience caused by his stay during those periods in Neauphle-le-Chateau. The world Muslim leader also appreciated the French people for all hospitability and extended thanks for officials who had provided security across the area. Imam had conducted several interviews with famous jounalists and media outlets during his stay in the French capital in order to get across his message to the world media and audience. On Feburary 01, 1979, Imam made a heroic return to Tehran where he was warmly received by millions of Iranians who had converged on the Iranian capital to say welcome to their leader.
