We owe to Imam Khomeini: President

Iranian president says the whole nation is obliged to Imam Khomeini for all honor, independence and freedom.

Iranian president says the whole nation is obliged to Imam Khomeinifor all honor, independence and freedom.

 President Hassan Rouhani said during a recent speech that the nation and people are obliged to Imam Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic who brought honor, esteem and independence by leading the historic Islamic Revolution in 1979.

He made remarks while speaking on the occasion of Feb. 8, the day when the Iranian Air forces declared their support for the cause of Imam Khomeini in 1979. The backing of air force largely contributed to the victory of the Islamic Revolution. 

Elsewhere in his remarks, the president hailed the sacrifices rendred by the martyrs to defend the country's honor and sovereignity. 

At the ceremony, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani also awarded medals of Honor and merit to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and other nuclear negotiators, who helped clinch a landmark deal with world powers last year.

"Medal of Courage" was also awarded to Defense Minister Hossein Dehghan and Ali Akbar Salehi, the head of Atomic Energy Organization of Iran

 

The July 14 agreement, which is considered as a major accomplishment for Rouhani, brought about the lifting of illegal sanctions last month.

The ceremony came days ahead the 37the anniversary of the Islamic Revolutoin which brought prosperity and esteem for the Iranian nations and all oppressed peoploe around the globe.
