The point that was conspicuous and perhaps was one of the Imam’s unique characteristics in his attitude towards women and family was that he despised men who betrayed their wives and divorced them and then married the other woman. The Imam intensely hated such individuals. Of course, ethical issues necessitated that he not expresses this intense dislike but those who were in close contact with the Imam’s viewpoints and his attitudes were aware of this issue. In any case, if the Imam felt that among his friends and admirers—people in Najaf who were known to be his close companions—there was any individual who had betrayed his wife and disrespected her, he would admonish him and express his deep disappointment.
