Al-Quds day was declared by Iran’s revolutionary Islamic leader Ayatollah Khomeini in 1979 as a day when the entire world is to turn their attentions to the plight of the Palestinian people. The event falls on the last Friday of Ramadan, which will this year work to energize the already inspired Palestinian people to take a greater stand over the attacks on al-Quds.

The International Quds Day is a legacy of the late founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Imam Khomeini, who designated the day in solidarity with the Palestinians and in opposition to the Israeli regime. Quds Day events have been held worldwide on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan. Today marks this year’s Quds Day.
