Imam Khomeini, on April 22, 1980 through a decree formally announced to establish the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) through a decree. The purpose of the formation of the force was to guard the revolution and its achievements and accomplishment of divine aspirations.
After the end of the eight-year-long imposed war 1980s, the IRGC undertook the construction of major national projects in various fields such as dam, road, gas, oil pipelines, port, quay, crushers, refinery, tunnel and consulting services aimed at serving the people. IRG was the wish of the Imam and he was quotes as saying from him that "I wish if I were a guard too.”
