Gerald Fredrick Töben, German-born Australian citizen says without the late Imam Khomeini’s assistance from his principled stance, the Palestinians would have already been fully scattered around the world, and their territory would have been swallowed up by the imperialist-backed global Zionist forces that find their strength in the Anglo-American cabal.”

The  founder and former director of the Adelaide Institutewas speaking to Qudsna reporter on the 25th anniversary of the late founder of the Islamic Republic, said “I extend my best wishes to the Iranian people who have held firm to the ideals that found expression in 1979 when the late Imam Khomeini succeeded in liberating his people from colonial bondage.”

Asking about how do you see the role of Islamic Republic of Iran in the Palestinian issue? he said IR Iran plays the most important role of any country in the Middle East because it is not beholden to any power for governance, as is the case with the Arabic-speaking oil-producing countries that bend to Israel’s pressure.

“Iran’s principled stance on Palestine throughout the past 3 decades has remained clear and this has caused the Palestinians to mature through their divisive politics that has been fuelled by anti-Palestinian powers in the world.”

This comes as hundreds of Palestinians are killed in Israel’s unrelenting aerial and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip.

According to figures provided by emergency services, the total number of people killed since the Israeli operation on July 8 stands at over 500. More than 3000 people have also been injured in the attacks.

Sources say more than half of the victims are women and children.

Medics are warning of a serious humanitarian crisis in Gaza as hospitals are running out of basic medical supplies.

Palestinian Authority has declared three days of national mourning following Israel’s brutal shelling.

Anti-Israel rallies are being held worldwide in condemnation of Tel Aviv's atrocities against Palestinians. The ralliers urge an immediate end to the bloodshed in Gaza.

Similar protests were also held in the West Bank, Chile, Lebanon, Turkey, Britain, Australia and Switzerland.

The protesters burned Israel's flags and called for an end to its aggression on Gaza. They also demanded the boycott of Israeli-made products.

Pundits believe that Imam Khomeini highlighted the Palestinian issue on international level and kept it alive by declaring the international Quds Day and several other initiatives.
