He made remarks during a recent mourning ceremony which was held at Hosseiniah Jamaran in remembrance of Imam Hussein (AS), a grandson of Islam’s Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon Him), and his 72 companions who were martyred in the Battle of Karbala.

The reputed scholar further said that the Islamic Revolution, which had been inspired by Imam Hussein (PBUH) movement, saved Ahura from any distortion and introduced its real and true dimensions.

Islamic Revolution under Imam Khomeini’s leadership foiled desperete efforts and plots by enemies to distort true identity, nature and truth of this divine-oriented uprising.

“We can name Imam Khomeini as the real reviver of Ashura in the contemporary history and present era. Because in this age and at sensitive juncture of history when all hopes for the revival of the divine oriented rituals of Ashura were either diminishing or leading to despair, Imam Khomeini presented a genuine reading of the event based on the truth.”

We would have gone far distant if it were not the Islamic Revolution, untiring struggle and self-sacrifice of the Imam and the path he showed and led in the contemporary world,  Komsari further explained.

"You know that the tragedy of Ashura and the uprising of Imam Hussein (PBUH) is of special characteristics and great importance. It has various aspects and is also full of scope and distinguished one from all other events... . The significance of the Ashura has been due to its impact and flow througout the history,"  Komsari stressed.

Generally in Imam Khomeini’s eyes, genesis and continuity of Islamic Revolution owes to Ashura and the lesson Imam Hussein has given our nation. He remarks: “we all should be aware that our Revolution may not result in triumph if was not the uprising of the Master of Martyrs Imam Hussein; Islamic revolution is a light of Ashura and its Divine revolution. “ (Sahifeh ye Imam, vol. 8, p. 12)

It is worthy to mention that Imam Khomeini  once said that the holy months of Muharram and Safar have kept Islam alive and advised preachers to promote genuine teachings of Islam during this period. According to Imam Khomeini, Muharram is the month in which justice was raised up against cruelty while truth confronted falsehood, and has proved that throughout history truth has always been triumphant against falsehood.

Perhaps the most important impression of Ashura culture and teachings on Iranian Islamic Revolution was opposition to taghout and arrogance as it was observed in all activities and stances of Imam Khomeini as a central motif of his Islamic movement.
