In fact, the Islamic Revolution of 1979 was rooted in the Constitutional Revolution of Iran which began in 1905 and led to the establishment of Parliament in Iran.

Dring the early 1900s the only way to save country from government corruption and foreign manipulation was to make a written code of laws. This sentiment caused the Constitutional Revolution.

Almost 40 years have passed since the day the 2500-year empire in Iran was changed into an Islamic republic following the Islamic Revolution in 1979.

Almost 40 years have passed since then; Iran has become a powerful country in the region and political analysts believe that the secret behind the endurance of the Islamic Revolution evolution is the big support from people.

This is at a time though Iran is grappling with some economic and social problems inside and has many challenges ahead.

Iran's Revolution came about with upheaval in 1979.

Going onto 40, the country witnessed demonstrations before its latest anniversary. But the president quickly called for a year of unity, which is to be a springtime New Year’s resolution.

We had three main slogans in the Islamic Revolution, namely Independence, Freedom and Islamic Republic.

By independence we meant getting rid of any kind of political dependence; be it colonial or exploitative which I can announce with full assurance that we have achieved it perfectly.

Freedom as the second slogan is yet to be fulfilled in some aspects. I believe that more serious measures need to be taken for the full realization of freedom to take place.

Islamic Republic as the last slogan refers to the current system of the government which was established in 1979 and is getting stronger over time.
