Imam Khomeini, who himself was a distinguished Islamic scholar, proved through establishment of a democratic Islamic system that Islam can fulfil both the material and spiritual demands of the human societies.

The late founder of the Islamic Republic also proved that a government based on religion can run the national affairs and deal with the social issues in a much better way than the other systems of government.

He started his movement against the pro-American and anti-Islamic policies of the Shah regime in 1960s.

The Islamic Revolution emerged in Iran in 1979 under the most competent and unprecedented leadership of Imam Khomeini, who had well command over a range of Islamic disciplines including philosophy, mysticism, jurisprudence and Quranic and Hadith sciences.

This revolution was a unique event of the 20th century, which changed the political standards of the East and the West completely and left lasting impression on the world economy, politics and culture.

Foundations of the Islamic revolution were laid on the golden teachings of Islam.

Supporters of the communism ruling over the eastern world in the 20th century considered religion as opium for the society and the countries of the western world considered religion as a failed entity in running the political and national affairs.

This is while there was no stable Islamic system in vogue anywhere in the Muslim world and most of the countries were under the domination of the western powers or the Soviet Union.
