Imam Khomeini resorted to struggle against the despotic Pahlavi monarchy from his youth. He was an adviser in political affairs to the Late Grand Ayatollah Boroujerdi who was in charge of the religious leadership at that time. On an occasion Ayatollah Boroujerdi had remarked: “I intend to support a youth who can be useful for Islam and Muslims.” Seemingly, The Late Ayatollah Kashani had become aware of Imam's revolutionary thoughts, intentions and spirit too as at a gathering he remarked: “Imam Khomeini has proved to be a useful person for the people of Iran.”
