Hundreds of people, including civilians, lost their lives after the airstrike hit poison gas supplies belonging to Daesh terrorists.
The Syrian army confirmed in a statement that the air strike late on Wednesday hit poison gas supplies belonging to Daesh Takfiri militant group, releasing a toxic substance that killed "hundreds including many civilians."
The incident happened in the eastern Deir al-Zor province. it added that the incident proved that Daesh and al Qaeda-linked militants "possess chemical weapons".
The Syrian Army statement went on to say that terror outfits, particularly Daesh and al-Nusra Front, were able to acquire and transport chemical weapons through the assistance of certain regional powers.
The statement emphasized that the Damascus government had repeatedly warned that terrorist groups would use chemical weapons against civilians and Syrian army forces.
It also highlighted that the Syrian army neither possesses chemical munitions, nor will ever use them, arguing that terrorist groups continue to use chemical weapons against Syrian civilians with impunity.
