Iranian cleric calls for unity to confront Takfiris

A senior Iranian cleric has called on Muslim countries to help eliminate Takfirism in Muslim societies.

Iranian cleric Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi has called on Muslim countries to help eliminate Takfirism and terrorism in Muslim societies.


Addressing at an international conference in the central Iranian city of Qom, the senior cleric called for unity among Muslim scholars in dealing with the threat.


The Muslim scholar also called for creating a united front against violence and extremism. The cleric described as a great sin, any kind of sectarian rift and conflict among Muslims.


 He noted that no religious leader should impose his beliefs on others.


The development comes as a second International Congress on Dangers of Takfiri Movements in Contemporary World in the holy city of Qom


 The summit focuses on the responsibilities of Muslim scholars regarding the problem of extremism and Takfiri groups.


The Daesh Takfiri militant groups and some other terrorist groups are wreaking havoc across several countries, especially in Iraq and Syria.


It is worth to mention that Imam Khomeini staunchly opposed resorting to all types of militancy, terrorism and violence.


The founder of the Islamic Republic has been a great supporter and promoter of unity among all Muslim sects and followers of all divine religions.


Imam used to maintain that the followers of all religions should become united to confront terrorism and aggressive policies by some colonial powers.


Following the footsteps of Imam Khomeini, the Iranian officials have announced their coordination with all regional countries and international community to confront Takfirism and terrorist groups which are operating across various regions.
