Scholars attend Mostafa Khomeini martyrdom anniversary

University and seminary scholars attend a ceremony held to mark the 38th martyrdom ceremony of the son of the founder of the Islamic Republic.

The ceremony was held in the Iranian city of Esfahan to remember the services Imam Khomeini’s son rendered to the Islamic Revolution.


The ceremony was attended by a large number of people from various walks of life and several religious scholars and academic figures.


Addressing the crowd, Ayatollah Naseri, a prominent cleric said that Ayatollah Seyyed Mostafa Khomeini had undertaken very serious efforts to convince all senior clerics to fully support and throw their strong weight behind the Islamic movement being led by the great Imam.  


Mostafa Khomeini largely contributed to the Islamic movement and stood behind his father who was leading the struggle against the then brutal regime of Shah in Iran 


Mostafa Khomeini has left an exegesis on the holy Quran , which he couldn’t complete due to his untimely martyrdom. H e has also left several scholarly works in various fields.


He was believed to be mysteriously martyred by some intelligence elements of the then Shah regime which had resorted to all type of violence to curb the Islamic movement.


However, the Islamic Revolution emerged victorious under leadership of Imam Khomeini and resulted in collapse of Shah and his backers in Iran. 


Imam and his family returned after spending decades in exile and establish an Islamic-democratic system.


A short biography 


Martyr Seyyed Mostafa Khomeini, the son of Imam Khomeini, was born in Qom in 1930. He was so talented that achieved the level of Ijtihad in his early youth. 


He accompanied Imam as a companion and advisor since the very beginning days of Imam Khomeini’s movement in 1962. 


He was comprehended subsequent to uprising of June 5, and after Imam’s exile he was once again arrested by SAVAK for his anti-regime protesting activities. Eventually the regime’s agents trespassed his domicile on January 3, 1964 and exiled him to Turkey. 


Upon arriving Najaf, he continued his struggle shoulder to shoulder with Imam Khomeini besides engaging in study and scientific activities. He was arrested and then transferred to Baghdad in 1969 subsequent to a chain of anti-Baathist activities.


 Finally, Ayatollah Seyyed Mostafa Khomeini was mysteriously martyred at the midnight of October 23, 1977. His martyrdom enlivened the Islamic movement of Iranian people and turned into a comprehensive revolution that ended up in collapse of Pahlavi Regime. Maybe it was for the very same reason that Imam Khomeini credited his martyrdom as hidden Divine intervention.
