Imam Haild Motahhari for Spreading Knowledge

The founder of the Islamic Republic advised university and seminary students and academic to read and explore precious works left by Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari.

Imam Khomeini said in a historic message that all valuable works left by Motahhari are of great value and significance.


The message was released following martyrdom of the great cleric and Islamic scholar.


 Ayatollah Motahhari is regarded as a right-hand of Imam Khomeini and a distinguished Islamic philosopher, whose philosophical views cover all social and political aspects of society.


His innovative theories played a major role in clarifying Islamic ideology for the young generation. His book "Dastan-e-Rastan", written especially for young people, was introduced as the best book in 1965 by the UNESCO.

Teaching is a profession considered sacred in Iran, as it is in many parts of the world, and young and old sustain an undying respect for those who strove so hard to increase their knowledge, honoring them with a small gift or flowers on this day. 

As it is all over the world, the teaching profession is a labor of love in Iran. Teachers can never be thanked enough for their selfless toil; or paid enough for that matter, but the few words of acknowledgement he or she receives from an appreciative student can make all the difference. 

Iranians celebrate Teacher's in memory of Ayatollah Motahhari, a man who devoted his life to opening up and writing about Islamic teachings and who was martyred on the same day in 1980.


Imam Khomeini in a historic letter to Ayatollah Morteza Motahhari once emphasized that the youth stand in dire need of understanding the genuine teaching of Islam.


The great leader of the Muslim leader said that the religious and spiritual teachings should be conveyed to the young people by using soft language and kind expressions, and preachers should give them glad tidings of divine mercy.


Imam sent the message to Motahhari from the holy city of Najaf in 1969,  nearly ten years earlier than the victory of the Islamic revolutio
